Start with the person nearest you!

building their monastery

Though they currently live in Jordan, the Sons of the Most Holy Redeemer are building their monastery in beautiful Rosebud County, rousing interest near and far. The monastery’s superior, Father Yousef Marie FSSR, writes, “We are so thankful for your support in this ground- breaking step for our monastery and future retreat center. We plan on building our monastery dedicated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and look forward to the day the lay faithful can come hear retreats preached by our priests.”

Great things are happening in our diocese because of your charitable gifts!

Seventeen beloved Catholic parishes, schools, and other ministries were awarded nearly $72,000 in grants by the Catholic Foundation of Eastern Montana.

Saint Teresa of Calcutta once said, “Help one person at a time, and always start with the person nearest you.” Giving to the permanent endowments at the Catholic Foundation of Eastern Montana is a way many of our amazing donors have chosen to do just that.

You see, the Greatest Needs Endowment and Parish Assistance Endowment, among other endowments, help fund the Foundation’s grant program. This is a truly wonderful way that your gifts can help the people nearest you: our fellow Catholics in Eastern Montana.

In 2022, seventeen applicants received grant awards totaling $71,993. We were so pleased that, despite a difficult year for investments, we were able to award the same amount that was awarded last year.

Two brothers from the Sons of the Most Holy Redeemer, and one of their volunteers, take a break. These monks, who were invited to our diocese in 2020, received their first-ever grant from the Catholic Foundation of Eastern Montana this year! They used the funds to lay the foundation for their new monastery’s first building.

2022 grants will assist a wide range of Catholic organizations in our diocese:

  • Diocese of Great Falls-Billings
  • Havre Vicariate
  • Mary Queen of Peace Parish (Billings)
  • Our Lady of Lourdes Parish (Great Falls)
  • Saint Francis Early Childhood Education (Billings)
  • Sons of the Most Holy Redeemer Monastic Order (Forsyth/Jordan)
  • St. Ann’s Church (Vida)
  • St. Ann’s Soup Kitchen (Great Falls)
  • St. Anthony Parish (Laurel)
  • St. Charles Parish (Pryor)
  • St. John the Evangelist Church (Baker)
  • St. Jude Thaddeus School (Havre)
  • St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church (Colstrip)
  • St. Mary Church (Columbus)
  • St. Patrick Co-Cathedral (Billings)
  • St. Thomas the Apostle Parish (Billings)
  • St. Thomas, Two Kills Center (Lodge Pole)

So thank you to all our donors who keep one eye on the future, and one eye on their neighbor, giving to the permanent endowments that serve the Church both now and for generations to come. Because of your generosity, the Catholic Church in our diocese—and the endowments that support it—will continue growing faithfully, only getting better with time!
