Make Your Everlasting Joy Be Known

By May 12, 2017March 9th, 2018Articles

Where do you find your joy? Is it in the Lord? Through your beloved Catholic faith?

If the Church is a big part of your life, or it was central in the life of someone you loved, perhaps you have already taken steps to care for it after you are gone. We owe so much to those Catholics who have passed before us who have provided for the Catholic Church in their will or trust.

Your will is your final opportunity to give expression to your personal wishes.

Perhaps your own parish was made stronger because of parishioners who loved enough to include your church in their will.

Each of us has the opportunity to let our will be known, to establish a lasting legacy.

Have you considered expressing your love for your Catholic faith and the family that has been your Church, even a favorite ministry? This is an important step in ensuring our faith will continue within our diocese.

A bequest is perhaps the easiest and most tangible way to have a lasting impact on the Church. A bequest may also be an effective way to make a gift to charity and lessen the burden of taxes on your family and estate.

With the help of an advisor, you can include language in your will or trust specifying a gift to be made to your family (including your church), friends and other favorite charities as part of your estate plan. The Catholic Foundation of Eastern Montana can provide you with the sample wording. Your bequest can benefit our entire church by naming the Catholic Foundation of Eastern Montana (or the Diocese of Great Falls-Billings, or a specific ministry or parish) as beneficiaries.

A bequest may be made in several ways:

  • Gift of a percentage of your estate
  • Gift of a specific asset (anything you own, including IRAs, retirement plans and insurance policies)
  • Gift of the residue of your estate

Many of the most helpful gifts to the Catholic Church have come from the estate of generous parishioners. They may not all have had much to give, but they remembered the Church in their will. And that, as the saying goes, has made all of the difference! Please consider a bequest to provide for your Catholic Faith when you plan your estate. And feel free to contact the Catholic Foundation of Eastern Montana to discuss your many options.

We look forward to helping you build a legacy for the Church, which will never pass away.
