Helping Saint Leo’s Keep Their Parish Family Safe
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, Saint Leo’s Catholic Church in Lewistown was able to make a significant improvement to their Parish Center last fall!
With help from a Foundation grant, the parish installed new security cameras and an intercom system, offering much-needed peace of mind to staff, volunteers, and families—especially those involved in the parish’s robust Religious Education program, which serves about 65 children each week.
These upgrades couldn’t have come at a better time. After two concerning incidents—one involving vandalism at the church and another where unknown individuals accessed the Parish Center uninvited—leadership knew that action was needed. The new system now allows staff to monitor the premises and ensure everyone’s safety without having to physically check the doors.
As Father Matt Solarz shared:
“I no longer have to worry about the safety of my staff while I am in and out of the office.
They have all told me they feel safer in the building alone…this will not only ensure physical safety but the safety of diocesan parish assets.”
The security enhancements have also inspired Saint Leo’s to reevaluate and strengthen overall security protocols, including rekeying facilities and better managing access to keys.
When we support parishes like Saint Leo’s, we’re not just helping with equipment—we’re helping build peace of mind, safeguarding our communities, and allowing ministry to flourish.
