Through her Will, Emma Toman created five separate endowments at the Catholic Foundation of Eastern Montana. The Novak and Toman Families Endowment helps meet the greatest, most pressing needs of St. Ann Church in Fort Shaw. The Frank and Emma A. Novak Endowment, Fred S. and Marie C. Toman Endowment, and Wesley F. and Emma F. Toman Endowment all benefit seminarian education in the Diocese of Great Falls-Billings. The final endowment, also named the Wesley F. and Emma F. Toman Endowment, provides support for the Poor Clares of Montana.

Emma F. Toman and Wesley F. Toman were married at St. Ann Catholic Church in Fort Shaw in 1958. With a Masters Degree in Education, Emma taught in area schools for more 28 years. After Wesley’s passing in 1982, she took over their farm and family business. This was a hardship for Emma but she took a bright outlook on her responsibilities, crediting Wesley, for he instilled in Emma a good outlook on life when things were difficult to accomplish. Emma passed away in 2014 and through her estate, she generously created these endowments to benefit the Catholic Church.

Planned Giving
Your support of permanent endowments at the Catholic Foundation of Eastern Montana can qualify you for unique tax and/or lifetime income benefits (especially the hefty 40% Montana Endowment Tax Credit) through what we call “planned gifts.”
Establish a Named (Legacy) Endowment
Donors may create a Named (Legacy) Endowment benefiting the Catholic parish, school, or ministry of their choice. All that’s required to start is a gift of $20,000 or more (or a pledge of $20,000 or more, given within five years of creating the endowment).
